BackYard AquaPonics

I have always been fascinated by people who grow their own food. The awesomeness of doing it yourself is immediately challenged by the lack of knowledge of how to do it. But in this day and age of internet and the infinite sharing leaves one no excuse not to try. So I started surfing and lo and behold, there is a wealth of knowledge waiting to be explored.

Occasionally, you stumble upon some wannabes who fail to finish the story they started. Never mind, just skip them and pay attention to those who completes their project after project and share with you all their shortcomings and also their success.

Well, after 2 weeks of browsing and working enough courage to try, I started a small aquaponics project in my own backyard. Putting together the components of the project gave me a sense of joy I cannot explain but it gave me the drive to complete it.

Here is the fruit of my weekend labor, 7 goldfishes darting about in the tote I bought from Tesco and spring onions, kangkung, spinach, serai and pandan.

I have ordered some stuff from ebay like pH meter and net pots for the next part, my NFT experiment involving 4" x 6 feet x 4 pcs of PVC pipe.

I want to try to grow some lettuce like butterheads and some other suitable varieties for our hot Malaysian weather. Any suggestions?
